3 Things We Learnt From Liverpool 4-0 Arsenal
1) Arteta vs Klopp
Liverpool didn't start the game at their blistering best. In the beginning, the game was very tactical with both teams taking time to find their feet. However, things soon changed after a war of words between Arteta and Klopp on the touchline. Tomiyasu and Mane competed for a aerial ball but Mane clearly won the duel, leaving Tomiyasu on the floor. Arteta, probably being a bit too over passionate, thought it was a red card offense and demanded Mane to be sent off. To this, Klopp retaliated with a few words of his own and this led to an altercation between the two. This moment not only changed the tempo of the game but it also breathed new life into the atmosphere at Anfield. Within a few minutes, Liverpool created a host of chances with Mane, Salah and Trent, all coming close to opening the scoring. Ramsdale, on the other hand, had other plans and the Arsenal backline celebrated each of his saves as if they had scored a goal. However, their celebrations were cut short as Mane opened the scoring in the 39th minute. Trent whipped the ball in from a free-kick and Mane was there at the far post to head the ball into the back of the net. The goal was richly deserved as Mane looked at his devastating best in the first half.
2) DioGOAL Jota
Diogo Jota scored Liverpool's 2nd of the night and it was some finish. Oxlade Chamberlain pressed Tavares which forced him to make a loose pass. Jota pounced on this opportunity and showed great composure to set White and Ramsdale across the turf before finishing it off in style. Not only did he score but he also played a vital role in Liverpool's 3rd goal. Alisson played a long ball to Tsimikas who headed to ball to Jota who then produced a brilliant header to set Mane free. Mane made a brilliant run into the box and then squared it to Salah who tapped the ball into the net.
3) Salah's mini crisis is over!
The kind of form Mo Salah is in right now, even a 3 game goal drought feels like a crisis. Luckily for him, the crisis is finally over and he's back within the goals. He came close to scoring in the 1st half when Tsimikas pulled a cross back from the byline but he was denied by Ramsdale. In the 2nd half, he scored from a tap-in after some brilliant build play from Liverpool. Let us all hope that the Egyptian King can sustain this rich vein of form throughout the season.
