5 Things We Learnt From Brentford 3-3 Liverpool

1) Jota with the header once again!

Jota scores a lot of goals with his head for a player who is naturally a winger. What's even more surprising is that he regularly gets himself into some great positions inside the box. Tonight, he managed to get at the end of Henderson's cross to equalize for Liverpool in the 31st minute. He's also been particularly prolific away from home- today it was his 7th goal in the last 8 away games.

2) Mo Salah- Liverpool Legend

Salah became the fastest player to reach 100 goals for Liverpool. It was a brilliant ball from Fabinho over the top to find Salah's run at the back of Henry and he let's his shoulder drop before hitting the shot first time. The goal was originally flagged offside but VAR overturned the decision to make it 2-1 for Liverpool. However, Mo failed to beat Raya one-on-one in the 76th minute and it proved to be a costly miss as Liverpool could have scored their 4th of the night and potentially, killed the game off.

3)  What a strike from Curtis!

With Harvey, Thiago and Naby all injured, Klopp had a dilemma at his hands. Fabinho and Henderson are guaranteed starters so Klopp had to choose from either Jones, Oxlade Chamberlain or Milner. It was Jones who got the nod and it's fair to say that he delivered. He started the 1st half brightly, pressing the Brentford players and winning the ball back a few times in the first 10 minutes. His main moment came in the 2nd half when he found himself at the edge of box and struck the ball with power. The ball took a deflection of Ajer and flew into the back of the net. The goal was however, his last involvement in the game as Bobby came on to replace him.

4) Defensive collapse

Liverpool's last line had a shocker tonight. In the first half, Ivan Toney and Mbuemo caused Liverpool all sorts of trouble. They completely dominated Liverpool's centre-backs in the 1st 20-25 minutes. Liverpool were not in the right positions for the second balls and Brentford duly exploited that. For the first goal, Fabinho was especially slow in clearing the ball at the back post. In the 2nd half, it was the  crosses. It seemed that Brentford had done their home-work and targeted Trent and Matip, time and time again. Klopp shifted Jota to the right in the 2nd half but it didn't make much of a difference. The way Liverpool conceded the 2nd and 3rd goal looked strikingly similar- a cross from the left hand channel into Liverpool's right where 2 or 3 players overloaded Trent. Moreover, the delivery was disappointing from both  the full-backs. Roberston had a rest in mid-week but he could barely keep up with anyone in the 2nd half.. Liverpool must sort out their defense, especially that right hand side,  before Porto and Man City next week.

 5) Opportunity missed for Liverpool

It's still early days in the season but Liverpool once again failed to capitalize when their rivals gave them an opportunity. A few weeks back, it was the Chelsea game at Anfield where Chelsea found themselves a man down at HT. Liverpool had the entire 2nd half to find the winner but were unable to break Chelsea down. Prior to tonight's match, Chelsea lost to Man City whereas Man United lost to Aston Villa. It was a great opportunity for Liverpool to open a 3-point gap at the top of the table but it would only be 1 as Brentford came from behind twice to earn a hard fought 3-3 draw.
