3 Things We Learnt From Manchester United 0-5 Liverpool

1) Klopp's changes pay-off

Jurgen Klopp made quite the headlines with his starting line-up against Manchester United. Fabinho was unavailable due to a knee injury so that was unavoidable but Klopp benched Mane and picked Jota instead, like he did last season at Old Trafford.  He also handed Konate his 2nd league start of the campaign. However, the most interesting one or rather the most questionable one was that he picked Naby Keita as part of his midfield trio. It's safe to say that those changes paid off. Jota was exceptional as he scored Liverpool's 2nd and laid the assist for Liverpool's 4th. He has now scored in back-to-back games at Old Trafford. Konate was rock-solid throughout the match and he also showed his great pace on one occasion when he covered against Dalot in the 72nd minute. His wrong footwork did allow Cristiano Ronaldo to score but luckily for him, it was given offside. There was so much talk about Keita during the week after his poor defensive showing against Atleti but Keita answered his critics in spectacular fashion. He scored Liverpool's 1st goal and also assisted Mo Salah's 1st. He has now equaled his highest goal tally for a PL season while it's only the 9th game of the season. He showed that when fit, he really offers something completely different from his fellow Liverpool midfielders. The only shame was that he had to be stretched off after Paul Pogba's red card challenge on him in the 60th minute. Let's just hope that the injury was not that serious and that he can continue this early season momentum in the latter half of the campaign.

2) What more can we say about Mo Salah?

I think we can all agree that we're running out of superlatives for Mo Salah. He is simply out of this world at the moment and is breaking records for fun. Today, he became the first opposition player in the PL to score a hat-trick at Old Trafford. He has now scored in 10 consecutive games for Liverpool. Not only that but he also assisted Liverpool's 1st. He's the best in the world at the minute and I think very few would disagree.

3) Liverpool are on a rampage

Liverpool have now scored a combined 33 goals in their last 8 away games. 33 goals. Moreover, they are unbeaten in their last 22 games across all competitions. Last season, a lot of people suggested that the Front 3's time was up and they needed replacing. Jurgen Klopp, however, always suggested that the Front 3 (Bobby and Mane, in particular) were misfiring as a by product of the many injuries Liverpool had suffered in defense. The team had lost it's balance and that their fortunes would turn as the injured players came back into the mix. I think we are all witnessing now, what he meant. Scoring goals is the most important thing in football and let's hope Liverpool continue this rich vein of form in front of goal.
