3 Things We Learnt From West Ham 3-2 Liverpool

 1) Liverpool fail to capitalise... AGAIN

Firstly, when Chelsea lost to Man City at Stamford Bridge, Liverpool went on and drew against Brentford a few hours later. Last week, when Man City suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace at the Etihad, Liverpool drew against Brighton at Anfield after being 2-0 up at one point during the match. Finally, last night, Chelsea drew with Burnley at home but Liverpool went on to loose against West Ham tonight. It's only the 11th game of the season but it's crazy how many opportunities Liverpool have had to get ahead of it's rivals. Sadly though, they have failed to grab any of these opportunities. Considering the quality of Chelsea and Man City, I doubt how many more chances Liverpool get.

2) West Ham did their homework very well

The 3rd goal Liverpool conceded, reminded me so much of the Brentford game. A brilliant delivery into the far post by Bowen as Zouma ran in completely unmarked to head the ball into the back of the net. Both Alisson and Trent must have done better. Alisson was busy with Antonio rather than focusing on the ball whereas Trent didn't even try to challenge for the ball. It's doubtful that he would have got the better of Zouma but at least he could've made things a little bit harden for him by going for the ball.

3) Liverpool only have themselves to blame

Although West Ham were spot on with their gameplan, Liverpool didn't play particularly well. Alisson had a rare off game. Even if we don't count the first goal as his mistake, he should've got more on the 2nd goal from Fornals and should've definitely done much better for the 3rd. The defense, apart from Virgil van Dijk, didn't cover themselves in glory. How was Bowen able to run 40 yards up the pitch, beyond 3 Liverpool players is still beyond me. Trent should've react quicker as Fornals literally ran past him. Fabinho, surprisingly, lost possesion on a couple of occasions including the one responsible for the 2nd goal. The front line weren't on fire either. Mane missed a glorious chance right at the death as Liverpool lost all hope of salvaging even a point from the game. Overall, it was a very below par performance form the Reds and they were 2nd best on the night.
