3 Things We Learnt From Liverpool 3-1 Norwich
1) Klopp rings in the changes
Jurgen Klopp made wholesale changes to the side that won in Milan in midweek. Both the fullbacks were rested and replaced by Gomez and Tsimikas whereas Matip came in for Konate. In midfield, Henderson was the No. 6 with Keita and Oxlade Chamberlain on either side of him and in attack, Diaz came in for Jota. With Liverpool trailing at the hour mark, it looked like a bad call from Jurgen Klopp but the substitutions he made once again made a big impact. Though the substitutes didn't play a direct role in the goals, they definitely helped and within 2 minutes of their coming on, Liverpool were level. Thiago, especially, was brilliant as he kept the ball in tight areas and sped up play.
2) 150 Liverpool goals for Mo Salah!
Mo Salah was just in the mood today and it looked only a matter of time before he would score. Brandon Williams had a torrid time against him as he got the better of him on numerous occasions. He could've easily scored himself or assisted himself in the 1st half but he finally got on the scoresheet in the 67th minute. It was like a flashback goal from the Man United game in 2020 when Alisson launched a long ball for him and he finished as cooly as possible.
3) 1st goal in a Liverpool shirt for Luiz Diaz
Luiz Diaz had an average first half where he had a decent opportunity himself but was unable to get on the scoresheet. However, things changed when he went upfront in the final 25 minutes of the game. He scored his 1st Liverpool goal when Jordan Henderson found him with a perfect throughball and he chipped the keeper to open his Liverpool account. Let's just hope that there are many more of these to come.
