3 Things We Learnt From Liverpool 1-0 West Ham

 1) Konate was monstrous

It was obvious that Mitchail Antonio would be targetting Ibrahima Konate from the very first minute of the game. It was exactly so and Antonio even got the better of Konate early on in the first half so much so that Henderson had to cover for him to prevent Antonio from coming in. However, in the 2nd half, the young Frenchman rose to the occasion and dealt with Antonio pretty well. He beat Antonio to a footrace on one occasion and overall, did very well against difficult opposition like West Ham.

2) Brilliant Fullbacks

When we speak about Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander Arnold, we often talk about how they've revolutionized the role of a fullback in an attacking sense but rarely do we speak about the defensive side of their game. Tonight, both of them were immense defensively. Both fullbacks had huge moments in either half. In the first half, Trent cleared a ball off the line and then Alisson saved the second attempt from Fornals to prevent the ball from going in the net. In the second half, Robertson made a last gasp tackle on Antonio who was through on goal as Keita came racing in to help him out. It was his touch that gave Keita the time to reach Antonio at the right time. Moreover, despite their heroics in their own half, they were at their usual best in an attacking sense. Robertson was a constant threat down the left flank whereas Trent assisted Mane for Liverpool's only goal.

3) Naby Keita was brilliant

Early on, Naby Keita found it to get involved in the game. However, as the game wore on, he became more and more influential. With Thiago absent, he played a similar role to him to a tee. As Liverpool lost control in the second half, he was the one who kept the ball in the tight areas and also helped out defensively. He was excellent in tracking back as he helped out Robertson to deny Michail Antonio. The upcoming summer is going to be huge for him but whatever happens then, he has a pivotal role to play in the upcoming months.
