3 Things We Learnt From Liverpool 2-0 Watford
1) Thiago looked in the mood
Thiago Alcantara looked in sublime touch especially in the 1st half. He played an excellent no look pass to Jones and almost found Robertson with a pinpoint through ball. He was also excellent in defense as he won the ball back on a number of occasions. The Spaniard absolutely ran the show in the 1st half and let's just hope that Liverpool can keep him fit for the remainder of the season.
2) In-form Jota
Diogo Jota loves a header, doesn't he? It was he who gave Liverpool the lead in the 22nd minute after he timed his run to perfection to convert Gomez's beautiful cross. Jota has now scored from a header(4) more than any other player this season. Moreover, since his Liverpool debut, he has scored the most headed goals (7) in the PL. He could've easily had a hattrick but Forster denied him in the 1st half whereas his free header in the 2nd half, was just over the bar.
3) Big 3 points!
The scoreline today doesn't actually tell the entire story of the match. Liverpool were obviously the better side and should've done more with their chances but Watford were threatening as well. Before Liverpool scored their first, it was Alisson who produced a big save to deny Juraj Kucka. In the 2nd half, Joao Pedro had a big chance but he failed to score. Liverpool's lead wasn't that slim but there was nervousness in the crowd and rightly so. With the crunch showdown against Man City coming up next week, the least Liverpool could do was take 3 points and they did just that, scoring two in the process and also keeping a clean sheet.
