3 Things We Learnt From Liverpool 2-0 Everton
1) Frank Lampard channels his inner Diego Simeone
It's fair to say that Frank Lampard has been watching a lot of Atletico Madrid these days. The antics from some of the Everton players must have already put them on Atleti's wishlist for the upcoming season. Jordan Pickford took half a minute for every goalkick, Seamus Colman was more interested in the duels of the mouth rather than the ones on the field, Anthony Gordon's diving even gave Neymar the blushes and Richarlison spent more time on the deck than a captain does on his own ship. Jokes apart, Everton knew their game plan and they executed it brillaintly, especially in the 1st half. Liverpool were clearly frustrated and they could've been easily down to 10 men had the referee seen Sadio Mane's altercation with Mason Holgate.
2) Big game player Andrew Roberston
Robertson gave Liverpool the lead in 62nd minute after he headed Mo Salah's cross into the ground past Pickford. It was a massive goal given how the game had gone until them and it gave every Liverpool fan a massive sigh of relief. It was a HUGE goal and it was kind of similar to the goal he scored at Villa Park in the title winning season.
3) Derby Day Specialist Divock Origi
Origi just turns into prime Ronaldo when he faces Everton, doesn't he? What a guy he is. Despite hardly featuring for Liverpool this year, he was massively involved in both the goals Liverpool scored. For the first, Salah played a quick one-two with him down the right before crossing the ball to Roberston at the far post. For the second, Diaz tried to bicycle kick the ball but the ball fell for Origi at the far post who headed it into the roof of the net. It looks as though he's time at Liverpool is coming to an end this summer with AC Milan interested but boy are Liverpool are going to miss him. Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, one things for sure: He's a Liverpool Legend and Football without him is nothing.
