3 Things We Learnt From Fulham 2-2 Liverpool

 1) Trent at the back post AGAIN!

It was a reoccurring theme throughout last season when the opposition teams found a lot of joy against Trent Alexander Arnold at the back post. The Brentford game certainly springs to mind as well as the Champions League Final. Today, it was Mitrovic who completely dunked TAA at the back post to open the scoring for Fulham. Most fullbacks would find it difficult to deal with Mitrovic at the far post but atleast Trent could've tried competing for the ball. Also, Alisson could've done slightly better with his effort.

2) Nunez opens his Premier League account

Darwin Nunez was the game changer for Liverpool as he equalised in the 64th minute. It was an improvised finish from the Uruguayan as his backheel effort found the back of the net having been denied by Rodak just a few minutes back from a similar effort. He also laid the assist for Mo Salah's equalizer in the 80th minute as the Egyptian became the 1st Premier League player to score in six consecutive opening weekends. The result at the final whistle might not have gone in Liverpool's favour today but it was a dream start for Darwin Nunez.

3) Two points dropped for Liverpool

It's funny to think about dropped points in August but such has been the level of competition and the nature of title race in the past few seasons that each and every point is crucial. Liverpool are no strangers to this fact having missed out on the title by a single point twice in the past four seasons. Despite this, Liverpool were extremely poor today. TAA was an easy target, Fabinho and Thiago were completely dominated by Pereira and Palhinha and even Van Dijk was unlike him and gave away a sloppy penalty. The only positive for Jurgen Klopp might be that despite being far from their best, Liverpool drew the game and hit the post twice. Jurgen Klopp needs to make sure that Liverpool tighten up and let go of this bad habit of conceding first in games. Liverpool can't win the title in the 1st half of the season but they can certainly lose it.
