5 Things We Learnt From Leeds 0-3 Liverpool
1) Another horrific injury to one of our key players
Harvey Elliot suffered a nasty injury in the 60th minute of the game after Pascal Struijk's horrendous tackle. To be honest, even writing about this makes me sad. Harvey is such a bright, young talent and just when he was bursting onto the scene, such a thing happened. He has looked so so good and has repaid the trust placed on him by Jurgen Klopp. The injury looked pretty serious but let us all hope for his speedy recovery and may this only be a bump in the road of a long, illustrious career.
2) Mane had a poor game
Although Sadio found the back of the net in the 92nd minute, he was extremely wasteful in his finishing. He had 10 shots on goal and he missed a glorious opportunity in the 1st half. Not only his finishing but his overall game was lacking a bit. He continually picked the wrong option in front of goal and when he received the final ball, either he took a touch too many or his first touch let him down. He hasn't returned to his best and he hasn't been there for a long time now. Things must change soon or this issue could really become concerning.
3)100 PL goals for the Egyptian King
Salah only had to tap the ball into the net after Trent played a square pass to him. However, by doing so, he became the fifth fastest player to score 100 PL goals and his tally for Liverpool now stands at 98. This just shows how great a goalscorer he has been and long may it continue.
4)Fabinho and Thiago were immense
Fabinho and Thiago completely bossed the midfield today. Both of them made crucial interceptions and kept the ball extremely well so as tire out the Leeds United players. Not only that but Fabinho also scored Liverpool's 2nd whereas Thiago assisted Liverpool's 3rd. All in all, it was brilliant performance from these two.
5)3 points, another clean sheet and onto Europe next
It as been a pretty good start to the season from Liverpool and a lot of it has been down to the presence of a stable back-line which was absent for almost the entirety of last season. Let us all hope that it continues that way. Moreover, attention now turn to the Champions League where Liverpool find themselves in the group of death. They face Milan first and it promises to a mouth watering clash between two European heavyweights. Getting off to a good start is important and hopefully, Liverpool do just that.
