3 Things We Learnt From Wolves 0-1 Liverpool

 1) Diogo Jota didn't really have the best birthday

Diogo Jota should've scored. As simple as that. He had 2 great opportunities but failed to convert either of them. In the first half, he tried to head the ball into the far post but missed by an inch. In the second half, it was a gift from Wolves as a miscommunication between Saiss and Sa meant that Jota ran with the ball towards an emplty net. He took too much time which allowed two Wolves to get back and put their bodies on the line. Finally, when he did shoot, it hit Conor Coady instead of the back of the net. The game was extremely tight and one in which Liverpool had to dig deep but it wouldn't have been so had Jota taken his chances. 

2) Liverpool capitalize... finally! 

It's well documented that Liverpool haven't made the most of their opportunities when their rivals have dropped points. Today, the story was going in a similar direction. Chelsea lost against West Ham earlier in the day and Liverpool almost drew 0-0 away at Wolves but thankfully, Divock Origi had other plans. From now on, Liverpool need to make sure that they punce on any mistakes made by their fellow rivals. 

3) Divock Origi, Liverpool Legend 

It was a brave call from Jurgen Klopp to withdraw Henderson and send in Divock Origi, considering the threat posed by Wolves on the counter. At the end, though, it proved to be a master-stroke. Origi looked great after coming on, linking up play and also providing Liverpool an option upfront as a target-man. His moment came in the 94th min when he scored to give Liverpool the victory. It was a big switch from Van Dijk to Salah who had a big touch but managed to keep in touch with the ball. Then he cut it back to Origi who scored to seal the 3 points for Liverpool. It was a great moment for Origi as well as he hasn't really contributed so much since the 18/19 season. Tonight's goal once again cemented his place in Liverpool's history books. Let's hope that he continues to deliver like this when Liverpool need him to.
