3 Things We Learnt From Liverpool 3-3 Benfica

 1) Klopp rings in the changes

Jurgen Klopp made 7 changes to the side that started the game at the Etihad with only Alisson, Matip, Henderson and Jota retaining their place and in came Gomez, Konate, Tsimikas, Keita, Milner, Diaz and Firmino. It was risky for Klopp to rotate so much in the 2nd leg of a Champions League semifinal but it was necessary. Liverpool were comfortably 3-1 up until Benfica scored twice to level the game. Despite Benfica's late resurgence, Liverpool's going through to the semis never looked in doubt. Liverpool could've obviously done better for the goals they conceded but it would be asking too much when 3 of the back 4 were changed.

2) Tsimikas, our Greek Scouser

Tsimikas put in a Man of the Match display for the Reds as he finished the match with 2 assists. His first was from a corner as Konate headed home from his cross whereas it was from his free kick that Firmino scored Liverpool's third.

3) Into the semis!

Liverpool will face Villarreal in the semifinal of the Champions League this season. I think most Red's supporters would take them over Bayern but I think they would pose a significant threat than most might think. They've got Unai Emery who's one of the best cup competition managers and they've got a squad who won the Europa League last season. They also have a knack of scoring a lot of late goals and they've been the giant killers this season knocking out the likes of Juventus and Bayern. Moreover, Liverpool's record against Spanish teams under Klopp isn't great. Klopp and Liverpool would hope that they can stop Villarreal's charge in the Champions League this season.
